After construction plans and specifications are completed, the owner and architect select two or more contractors to bid on the project as designed. A bid date is established and a total price is submitted by the contractors per the construction document. Typically, the owner awards the job to the low bidder. Sometimes the quality of the subcontractors may be compromised using the Competitive Bid option.
